Chapter 2 The Seven Seals already Broken

◆ The Nuclear Power Plant Disaster of Chernobyl

[8-10] ¶The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water.

[8-11] The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the water, because it was made bitter.

When John was watching the screen "the sea of glass like crystal," the scene changed with the signal of the third trumpet, and the surface of the earth appeared and the big river was flowing near," then, suddenly, he witnessed the explosion and "the huge ball of fire, which was blazing like a torch." Although the description "the name of the star is Wormwood" is in the text, since the great meteorite cannot have had a name from the beginning, it is likely to be better to think that "this great star" is the symbol about something.

Although the description "A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the water, because it was made bitter" is in this text, from this expression, you could guess easily that the possibility of radioactivity is very high as the cause. What is the disaster in which many men were killed with radioactivity in recent years? You should remember the nuclear power plant disaster of Chernobyl (1986), then, I investigated about Chernobyl, consequently, I found what should be surprised. The Pripyat’river flows very near the nuclear power plant, and is flowing into the Kiev lake and also the Dnepr river, and this Pripyat’river is polluted with violent radioactivity, and the reservoir which 35 million people uses, is near the nuclear power plant. It also became clear that people in the vast area from East Europe to Moscow, is continuing being troubled with the sequela of serious radioactive contamination. (Please refer to "From Chernobyl to Hiroshima" Ryuichi Hirokawa's work, Iwanami junior pocketbook P10) Isn't the expression "a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water" the very literal sense? Furthermore, there is what should be surprised. In fact, the name of "Chernobyl" is the meaning "wormwood" in Russian, according to the Russian great dictionary, it is described that "чернобыльник” is a kind of wormwood (plant)."

The scene changed suddenly, and the surface of the earth where a river flowed and had a reservoir near it, projected on the screen, then John saw that the brightness like the ball of fire suddenly appeared there. The scene where the fountainhead was polluted and many people died, was also projected, and probably the title "The name of the star is Wormwood" would be projected on the corner of the screen as the explanation. What situation was this nuclear power plant disaster? First, the reaction of nuclear fission went out of control, consequently, the temperature of reactor core became unusual height, and it continued melting the concrete of the wall and the ceiling surrounding the reactor, that is, this was the maximum scale as an accident. Supposing someone was looking at it from the sky, he must have found that the crimson ball of fire appeared on the the surface of the earth. Thus, various situations coincide with the description of the text, therefore, it must be concluded that this text has suggested the nuclear power plant disaster of Chernobyl.
